Desh Sharma

Desh Sharma is a seasoned banker with over two decades of experience across global finance. Throughout his career, he has worked with institutional investors, large global and regional corporations—including quasi-sovereign entities—and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. His expertise spans investment banking, private credit, structured finance, corporate banking, and wealth management solutions, all delivered through a relationship-driven, institutional lens.

Most recently, Desh served as Head of Institutional & Corporate Coverage at UBS AG in Dubai. In this role, he led the development of a dedicated platform focused on large clients, offering an integrated approach that brought together corporate and investment banking solutions, while working closely with wealth and institutional teams. This strategic shift strengthened UBS’s presence in the region and elevated its engagement with key clients. Desh also served on the MEA Management Committee and was an Authorized Individual, helping steer the firm’s broader strategic direction in the region.

Prior to UBS, Desh spent 13 highly successful years at Credit Suisse, where he led several landmark transactions and was instrumental in expanding the firm’s footprint across emerging markets. He was widely regarded as the flagbearer of the bank’s institutional banking franchise in the region—consistently delivering top-tier results and leading one of the most profitable teams within the firm. Under his leadership, the team won multiple industry awards and was recognized for its innovation, execution, and client impact.

Desh began his career at ICICI Bank, where he spent nine years and was consistently recognised as a high-performing leader. He rose steadily through the organization, taking on increasingly senior responsibilities, and built a strong foundation in client coverage and institutional relationship management.

Outside of work, Desh is a passionate cricket fan and has a deep appreciation for Indian classical and contemporary music.
